This is an expertly made “wood-fired” teapot by Taiwanese master Mashalu, whose name means "Thank you" in her native aboriginal language.
There is no glaze on this pot. It’s 100% color, texture and shine by natural wood-firing. Mashalu successively fires different wood species to give layers of color and texture in an extremely high-heat four-day "ash-fall" process. It's not easy and takes the vigilance of four 24-hour days.
Characteristics: Larger capacity with a tightly fitted lid, vacuum release on the lid, quick even pour. Mostly wood-fire seal in the belly of this pot. Made of imported Japanese clay. The intense heat slightly deformed a couple strainer holes on the interior but you'll never see it and it won't affect the performance.
The color and texture don’t really come out in the pictures. Please maximize to get a better idea - although pictures may show slight variation in the actual color.
It's not untrue to say that we searched many years to find just the right partner to deliver BTTC teas in just the right way. Please enjoy.
Note: 250ml capacity is approximate.
Shipping: Only $5 domestic shipping for all the tea and tea wares you want
Returns: If you aren't happy at all with your teapot contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We allow returns within 30 days packed the same way you received it for a full refund. Shipping cost will be re-imbursed within 7 days of receiving. Please only use water to test it. Take your time and see how it pours, how it fits in your hand, how you like it and how it makes you feel. If you choose to brew tea in it, we will not be able to accept your return as this starts the seasoning process which someone else might not appreciate.
Mashalu added a vacuum release on the lid allowing you to press your thumb firmly on the lid when pouring out your tea. It's really nice. This one has a tight lid with no dribble on the pour.
